3. Installation Steps of Steel Ranch Fencing

STEP 1: PLAN & MARK THE FENCE LINE

  1. Walk the property to determine fence route.
  2. Use stakes and string to mark the centerline.
  3. Mark post locations every 2.9m.
  4. Check for underground utilities before digging.

STEP 2: DIG POST HOLES

  1. Dig holes based on the post dimension.
  2. For rocky soil, consider using a post driver or hiring equipment.

Tip: In loose soil, dig deeper or add concrete for stability.

STEP 3: INSTALL POSTS

  1. Place post in hole. Use level to ensure it’s plumb (vertical).
  2. Temporarily brace post with wood or stakes.
  3. Mix concrete (if using) — pour into hole, then insert post.
  4. Allow concrete to cure 24–48 hours (check concrete manufacturer’s instructions).

STEP 4: ATTACH RAILS TO POSTS

  1. Each post has pre-drilled holes for rails.
  2. Put the rubber in the holes.
  3. Slide top rail into upper hole, middle rail into middle hole, bottom rail into lower hole.
  4. Put the steel wires into the post.
  5. Put the post cap and tight it.
  6. Ensure rails are level and evenly spaced.
  7. Repeat for each section.

STEP 5: CHECK ALIGNMENT & STABILITY

  1. Walk along fence line — check for sagging or uneven rails.
  2. Re-check post plumbness.
